Welcome to Family Tech Support!

Since I often do computer tune-ups and stuff for family and friends I thought it would be nice to set up a repository of info. There are certain things that I do to my wife's and my own computer to keep them running fast and secure. Thought I would share this with family and friends who might wish to speed up old computers or get rid of spam/unneeded software.

The software that I consider critical can change as time goes on, better spyware detection, ad blocking etc. So a blog seems like a good start.

My usual practice when I clean up people's computers is fairly straightforward, I'll show you how to do it in this blog:

1. remove unused software
2. delete anything you can safely delete (you should have 25% of your hard drive free)
3. install secure software to protect yourself
4. set up periodic automatic cleaning

enjoy...
